Market Research

Through user interviews and historical learning pattern data across 126 test-prep students, I found that 76.2% struggled with fragmented vocabulary retention and lacked a structured mechanism to target specific test question types.

Learner Pain Points

By synthesizing user feedback and operational logs, I identified recurring pain points across test preparation cycles:

I designed the product architecture around a 3-pillar structure: Course Center, Textbooks, and Personal Center, ensuring learners transition seamlessly between modular video instruction, timed drill exercises, and personalized remediation loops.

Scaffolding Vocabulary Banks

I structured graded levels mapped against CEFR/Cambridge equivalents, and introduced progress completion bars, clean vocabulary testing cards with real-time timers, and immediate score summaries.

Diagnostic Reports

Learners can receive immediate score distribution grids (correct vs. incorrect breakdowns) alongside qualitative performance summaries, prompting them to connect with dedicated tutors.

The personal workspace features an automated assignment center, practice attempt history, a persistent error bank, and personalized remediation sets that filter units with accuracy below benchmark thresholds.

Reflection

Data-Informed Product Scoping and Strategy

When I defined the product strategy, I recognized that student churn in test prep stemmed from ambiguous progress tracking. By anchoring our roadmap on diagnostic reporting and CEFR-aligned vocabulary scaffolding, I ensured that every feature served a direct pedagogical milestone rather than decorative engagement metrics.

Building a Closed-Loop Learning Economy

As I architected the interface across curriculum streaming and active testing, my core focus was eliminating dead ends in the learner journey. Integrating automatic error logging directly with customized re-test sets enabled learners to convert mistakes into concrete score improvements without cognitive friction.

Bridging User Value with Business Conversion

Evaluating user performance data and consultation flows reinforced that learner trust drives acquisition. Designing structured test reports and trial video lessons established immediate academic authority, allowing our team to create an organic funnel connecting high-utility free practice tools with premium academic consulting.
